Social Ride – Be Part of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships

Get ready for a fun and inclusive cycling experience in the heart of Kigali, to celebrate the 2025 UCI Road World Championships together! The Kigali 2025 Social Ride is all about community spirit, family fun, and enjoying the beautiful landscape of the Land of a Thousand Hills. Come ride along our event mascot, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of this event!  Date & Time Saturday, September 20, 2025 From 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM  Registration Participation is free, but registration is required. You can register online in advance or on-site the day of the event. 
  • Online registration – recommended for a guaranteed number plate and finishers’ medal – is available until Friday, September 19th at 5:00 PM. You can register here
  • On-site registration will be open in the KCC Fan Zone until 11:30 AM on event day. However, number plates and medals are not guaranteed for late registrations. 
Equipment Bring your own bike and helmet — both are mandatory. If you don’t have one, you can rent from local providers listed below, offering special rates for this event.   Note: Rental services will not be available directly at the start/finish zone, arrange pick-up of the bikes directly with the rental organisation.

Any bike rental companies who want to be listed here, please reach out to massevents@ucikigali2025.rw   Who Can Join  Everyone is welcome! There is no minimum age, and we encourage participation from individuals, friends, and families alike.  Location The ride will start and finish at the Kigali Convention Center roundabout. A detailed map of the Kigali Convention Center Fan Zone — including information and registration booths, toilets, and more — will be available soon on this page.  Route Participants will cycle the official 15km loop of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships, including the climbs of Kigali and Kimihurura. You can ride the loop as many times as you wish! This exciting route features 305 meters of elevation and two climbs — perfect for a challenge on world-class roads. Safety The entire 15km loop will be closed to traffic from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with full support from the Police for a safe and secure ride. Helmets are mandatory and will be checked at the start.  Schedule
  • 10:45 AM – Arrival for participants who need to register on-site 
  • 11:10 AM – Arrival for pre-registered participants 
  • 11:20 AM – Access to start zone (proof of registration, bike, and helmet required) 
  • 12:00 PMMass start
  • 12:30 PM – First finishers expected (you may stop and collect your medal if pre-registered or continue for a second lap) 
  • 1:00 PM – Final lap begins
  • 2:00 PM Official ride end
  • After 2:00 PM – Relax in the Fan Zone with food, drinks, and facilities available 
Theme   100% fun – 0% competition! No timekeeping, just good vibes and community celebration.  Food & Drinks There will be no water stations on the route, refreshments will be available at the start and finish area, within the fan zone. How can I join this ride? 
All you need to do is to register, it’s free of charge! You can find the entry form here. Please note that you will need to provide your own bicycle. A list of bike rental companies is given on this website 

Yes, registration is required. You can register online until Friday, September 19 at 5:00 PM, or on-site at the KCC Fan Zone until 11:15 AM on the day of the event. We recommend registering online to guarantee your number plate and finishers’ medal. 

Participation in the Social Ride is completely free of charge. 

Everyone is welcome! There is no minimum age, and individuals, families, and groups of friends are all encouraged to join. 

You must bring your own bike and helmet — both are mandatory. If you don’t have one, you can rent from local bike providers listed on this page. 

The organization does not rent out bikes, but local bike rental providers are offering special rates for this event. Please arrange rentals in advance — bikes will not be available directly at the start/finish zone.
